Sometimes we are faced with situations in life that leave us desperately searching God’s scriptures for insight on healing and miracles.
In fact, there are few things harder to hear than when a doctor tells you there’s something wrong with your unborn child. What was anticipated as a beautiful and joyous event becomes a moment of fear and heartbreak.
Consequently, without thinking we search the scriptures for healing and miracles.
Or what about the big C word? Cancer. It’s a word that pierces your heart with fear and wreaks havoc in your life and family. Unfortunately, I know a family who fought through this very thing.
I know they were pouring themselves over scriptures for healing and miracles.
So, What can we do when something in life goes terribly wrong? Thankfully God is full of grace and compassion and understands our humanity and emotions. Under those circumstances, He does not tell us to “get over it”.
He does not demand performance or shame us for feeling. What’s more, God doesn’t get mad even if we are angry at Him. He’s bigger than that. He’s much, much bigger. God comes to share our sorrows, to carry our pain…carry us, really.
Without delay, in the middle of the darkest night, He comes as a light to bring hope and peace.
He does that through a peace that surpases understanding. He does that through a community of friends and family.
But, He also has given us a guide map of hope to know how to pray with scriptures of healing.
Firstly, He uses the seasons of heartache to draw us closer. To reveal His nature–His care and tenderness and deep love for us. Secondly, He also uses these times to build our faith and trust in Him.
Thirdly, He uses the hopeless situations to reveal Himself as the God of all Hope–the Miracle Worker, the Healer, the Redeemer. With this in mind, for someone who is facing a deep place of grief, we want to join together and ask God to be THIS God: The God who works miracles.
The God who can heal no matter how hopeless the situation.
Psalms 107:20-21 He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Let them give thanks to the LORD for His lovingkindness, and for His wonders to the sons of men!
Thank You, Lord, for sending Your Word to heal us. In fact, You never change–Your Word brings healing. So, I believe that You heal and deliver us from our destructions!
Luke 4:40 As the sun went down that evening, people throughout the village brought sick family members to Jesus. No matter what their diseases were, the touch of His hand healed everyone.
Jesus, I thank You that You never change and that You still want to do miracles today. Just as the people in that village, in my heart I bring my need to You and ask You to answer my prayers, and do the miracles needed.
Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
John 14:13-14 Whatever you ask in My name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in My name, I will do it.
Jesus, I come to You the way You told your followers to–seeking, asking, and believing! Firstly, I ask that You would creatively heal our needs, and restore our hearts. Secondly, I ask for your wisdom, your clarity, your perfect plan to unfold. Lastly, I ask to be astounded, for our family to be astounded by the miracle you do–glorify yourself through this story! I believe You can do this. Without reservation, I trust You to do this.
I’ve heard many stories and seen miracles firsthand of God coming to the rescue. It must be remembered that He is powerful. Please join me in faith, believing that God is a good, powerful, miracle-working God and that He will do a creative miracle for you as well, according to His Word.
Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
