The best time to pray for your husband is when you remember to pray for your husband. For some, morning prayers for your husband may feel like a cheesy way to begin your coffee routine, but in the flurry of life, it can be easy to forget that you have the most power to influence his day on the Earth.
You are the closest person to your spouse. On the positive side, you are the one who knows his biggest wins, and on the negative side, you also know his fails and most inhibiting weaknesses.
You see all of it. He is special to you and your family, and your prayers can help him be his best. In truth, there is nothing cheesy about prayer. And morning prayers for your husband are a fabulous place to start.
Your marriage means you have a front seat to his spiritual life as well and have the opportunity to invest time, energy, and even finances into that intimate and personal part of his life.
Yet so often, it is easy to forget that the prayers for your husband will be the best aimed coming from you. Do you know how powerful your prayers are for your spouse?
Did you know that your investment in prayer for your husband will NEVER return void? (ISAIAH 55:11)
If you are unsure where to start, my friend Sarah and I have come up with a mashup of our daily prayers for our husbands. Some are prayers of blessing; others are prayers for wisdom and direction.
Whatever your husband needs this week, I pray this would be a launching pad of your understanding of the power of prayer in your marriage, and a habit-forming lifestyle that would keep you married and happier longer.
So let’s get started!
Dear Lord, I lift my husband’s day before you. I pray he senses your presence today in a strong and mighty way.
Holy Spirit, guide his hands and eyes in all the right places. God, may he find his identity in you first and foremost, enjoy others, and not strive for their respect or their admiration, but I pray others would see his steadfast heart and honor him nonetheless.
Give him favor at work, with his family, with me, and most of all may he find favor with You. Finally, I pray that all of his words and actions today would please You, Lord.
God, may he leave and come home to us safely, that no evil would befall him.
I bless [name] with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in every decision he will make today. Lord, I bless him with a faithful heart as my husband and with the ability to be a loving, caring, involved father to our kids. Lastly, thank you for Your favor and influence to sit among the elders of the gates of our city (Proverbs 31).
Heavenly Father, help me see the best in him when he walks in the door tonight. In fact, I pray I would see his weariness and you would give me the discernment to know how to serve him as he serves You.
Oh Lord, please open doors that are closed to him and give him the words he needs when he has none. Let him feel your presence spurring him on as he focuses on his work.
Lastly, I pray for an extra measure of wisdom, and that he would feel the guidance of your Holy Spirit throughout the day.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen
